About CaseCited

What We Do

CaseCited is an AI-powered legal argument builder for US attorneys. Describe your case facts in plain English, select your jurisdiction, and receive a structured legal argument with real case citations, counter-arguments, and confidence scoring — in under 30 seconds.

We cover all 50 states plus federal courts across six practice areas: family law, landlord-tenant, personal injury, criminal defense, employment law, and business/contract law.

Our Data Sources

  • CourtListener8M+ opinions from the Free Law Project, updated daily with new decisions from Texas state and federal courts.
  • Caselaw Access Project6.5M state court decisions from Harvard Law School covering all 50 states through 2018.
  • Texas Courts OnlineOfficial opinions published by the Texas Supreme Court and Courts of Appeals.

How Summaries Are Generated

Our summaries are generated using AI language models applied to the full text of court opinions. Unlike general-purpose AI chatbots, our system is grounded in actual case text — it doesn't hallucinate holdings or fabricate citations. Every summary is based on a real, published court opinion.

We focus on extracting: (1) the key legal question presented, (2) the court's holding, (3) the reasoning and applicable legal standards, (4) the practical significance for practitioners.

Citation Status

We track citation status using publicly available citation network data. Cases are marked as:

  • ✅ Good Law — Not overruled, still cited positively by subsequent decisions
  • ⚠️ Modified — Partially overruled, limited, or distinguished on key points
  • ❌ Overruled — Expressly overruled by a higher court or later decision

⚠️ Important Disclaimer

CaseCited provides legal information for research purposes only. This is not legal advice. AI-generated summaries may contain errors. Always verify citations against official reporters, confirm citation status through a certified citator, and consult a licensed attorney for specific legal matters. Do not rely solely on this tool for case citations in court filings.

Coverage

We cover all 50 US states plus federal courts across six practice areas:

  • • Family Law (child custody, divorce, support, protective orders)
  • • Landlord-Tenant (security deposits, evictions, repairs, habitability)
  • • Personal Injury (negligence, premises liability, auto accidents, med mal)
  • • Criminal Defense (search & seizure, DWI/DUI, self-defense, sentencing)
  • • Employment Law (wrongful termination, discrimination, wages, non-competes)
  • • Business & Contract (breach of contract, formation, fraud, partnership)

Our system understands that legal standards vary by state — comparative fault rules, security deposit deadlines, implied consent laws, and employment protections all differ. Select your jurisdiction and the system applies state-specific analysis.
